Sante Adairius Saison Bernice

saisonbernice

Saison Bernice is an exquisitely fermented farmhouse ale. Dry and refreshing, Bernice is made of the freshest on-hand and locally available ingredients. She receives multiple yeast additions, including Brettanomyces, and is further aged in the bottle.

Final Rating: 4.42/5
look: 4.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Poured from a 750mL bottle into a Sante Adairius tulip glass.

Pours a hazy bright yellow body with a big frothy 2 finger white head that sticks around for a while, eventually reducing to some chunky foam and leaving spotty lacing.

Aromas are pronounced and inviting – a very clean saison character full of tartness, green apple, light banana, saison yeast, hay, and wheat.

On the tongue is a gentle tartness, light citrus, saison yeastyness, subtle esters, tart apple, wheat, finishes lightly fruity and maybe even a tad sweet. Not as crisp and dry as some other Saisons I’ve had, but very drinkable and refreshing, medium carbonation.

Saison Bernice is a solid saison – it hits all the high points of the style while being super complex and balanced. A really “chill” beer.
